Every student should have brought home a book that they are to add to their library at home. Please read that story with your child. We will be giving away books every month so enjoy!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break!! Now that we are back in the swing of things, please make sure you are reading with your child every night. Remember…practice makes perfect!

Family night will be held for Carrie Downie students and parents on Thursday, December 13 from 6:30-8:00.  Classroom teachers will do an abbreviated Language Arts block to model the activities students are doing in the classroom. Parents and students will rotate through the different activities following the instruction. Invitations were sent home with the students on Tuesday, November 27th.  Please RSVP if you will be attending by Tuesday, December 4th.  This is a great opportunity to see what your child is doing in school.  At the end of the night, students will be able to take home a free book to read!!

I know everyone is looking forward to a little vacation time over Thanksgiving Break, but please continue to read with your children every day.  Every child who is reading needs practice, practice, practice!!

Thank you to all parents and students who came out on Family Night…it was a huge success!! I really enjoyed meeting all of you. I hope you had a good time and were able to take home valuable information. Feel free to stop by my room after meeting with homeroom teachers during conference time.

Title I Family Night is arriving soon! It will be held on Thursday, October 25 from 6:30-7:30 at William Penn High School.  You will be able to meet me and the other Title I teachers.  There will be reading games and books that will be given out for you to keep and play at home with your family.  You will also find out about the Title I program and reading suggestions to use at home.  Light refreshments will be provided!! Hope to see you all there!!
